Perhaps the hardest thing about starting a blog is writing and publishing that first post. What’s a blogger supposed to write about? What am I supposed to say? How do I get this thing started? What do you all want to read about?
I could talk about me. I teach high school English. I’ve always wanted to be an author. I never wanted to be a blogger. I spend too much time on Facebook (and other time wasting internet sites). I’m an introvert (which probably explains not wanting to blog). The thing I miss most living in the desert is thunderstorms, which we don’t get nearly enough of, but then I guess it wouldn’t be a desert if we did. The thing I love the most is no snow. Ever.
I could talk about why I started this blog. To help me on my path of someday being a published author (the successful part is something I feel I have less control over and I figure if I’m ever published, I’ll count myself as successful).
I could talk about what I plan on actually blogging about. Me. The Author me, that is. The writing process, which I’m still learning about. The becoming a published author process, which I have much more to learn about. The books I enjoy and read, especially those that are in the same genre as what I write (YA Fantasy, FYI). Inspiration. Author friends (I’m slowly amassing those. VERY slowly.) Writing buddies (who are also my editing buddies). The editing process.
I suppose that last paragraph could go on infinitely as I think about more things to blog about. I’m sure they’ll come to me as I continue this little journey of mine.
About the only thing I don’t want to talk about is how often I’ll blog.
Right. Moving on.
I don’t know where this blog will take me. I hope I learn new things about myself, about writing, and about my stories. And I hope all of you will help me. Friends, family, and those I’ve never met, welcome to my blog.
