One of the blogs I follow shared this great video about the process it takes to actually a publish a book. Now, this is not the “from first draft to signing the publishing contract” process. As nice as it would be to think that if you followed certain steps, you’d be guaranteed to get your book published, seeing what happens AFTER you manage to get a publishing contract is still very interesting and informative.
This video was actually created by the major publishing company Random House, and it makes me wish that something like this had been made YEARS ago. It’s really a fun peek into something that I’ve been curious about for a long time, and I’m sure many other writers are.
The part of the video that resonated with me most was the first part where they talked about the editing process and what editors do. It’s nice to know that the editors really do care about their authors and that they want to do everything to help the author make their book the best that it can be, but in a way that is tailored to each author’s individual style.
What did you like about the video?
